BANKERS' ETHICS

My unit in the Bank had a seminar last Saturday entitled "Bankers' Ethics". I personally feel that this is one seminar I no longer need considering that I have been with the institution for almost 10 years and have been exposed to a lot of transactions that have creatively circumvented bank policies and BSP audits. Furthermore, if a Bank is presented with a Court Order, there is no such thing as Secrecy of Deposits. This seminar should be for impressionable new college graduates wanting to start a career in Banking, or whatever career, for that matter.

Everyone went to the Seminar out of duty. No one wanted to attend but it was the 'delaying the inevitable' that reeled us in. So, we found ourselves inside the Bank's Multi-purpose Hall at 8:30am on a nice warm Saturday.

Be it known that I didn't pay much attention to the facilitator. I however, actively participated in the group activities and games, which were pretty lively. I finally learned the hand motions accompanying the old Coca-cola commercial (Eto ang beat, sabay-sabay, Eto ang beat, walang sablay....). This activity made us create a team battle-cry and the unison movements suggested focus and cohesiveness.

The seminar ended a few mintues past 6pm and I felt sooooooo bloated from being cooped up inside an air-conditioned room with the temp so low I felt I was going to get pneunomia. Brrrrrr! Meals were served inside the room together with an endless supply of Nescafe 3-in-1s that trips to the bathroom were frequent.

The only highlight (if you can call it a highlight)of my day, was when my Division Head announced to the team that I have a "Never Say Die" attitude. Either he sees me as a persevering sort of person or its his Tagalog equivalent of 'MAKULIT!!' Haha!!!

I don't plan to attend another Bank Seminar unless it has something to do with how to handle Bank Politics. Grabe, I'm so jaded with the politics going on around here. I need a change of environment and I truly hope I get it soon.
