FAVORITE TV SERIES - THE 4400

A new TV series has caught my fancy - the 4400. The story is about 4,400 people who disappeared over the past 50 years and were suddenly returned all at once, appearing as they were on the day they vanished. None of them can remember their otherworldly experience but obtained extra-ordinary abilities, both good and bad. Maia Ruttlaedge, 8 years old, had psychic ability. Shawn Farrell, 17 years old, had the power to give or take away life, just by holding them. Orson Bailey can make the earth tremble when he gets upset and he cannot control it. Lily found herself pregnant and the baby in her womb communicates to her in ways she cannot explain. The strange thing was that Lily wasn't even pregnant on the day she disappeared. Richard was an African-American fighter pilot during the Korean War. Before he disappeared, he had a special relationship going on with Lily's grandmother, also named Lily, a white woman. Imagine his disbelief and sorrow when he met Lily and when she told him that her grandmother already passed away. There are more characters in the show but you gotta watch it to know all of them. When the 4400 tried to return to their way of life before they disappeared, it became clear that things will never be the same for them again.

I came across the 4400 at AXN while channel surfing one night. I thought it was one of those stories similar to the X-Files or Taken, but this was different. I personally feel that the appeal of the show lies in the way the characters were portrayed, how they are dealing with their acquired abilities and how this has affected their relationship with their families, friends and the other people around them.

Check out the 4400 when you can. It airs on AXN every Thursdays at 9PM with replays on Sundays at 10PM. And while you're at it, check out Shawn Farrell, played by actor Patrick Flueger. He is such a cutie!!!
