I can't wait for the Bank to release our Christmas Bonus this month. I so very much want to buy a digital camera so I can upload some pictures in this here website. I'm also deliberating whether I should buy a new cellphone with a camera just so that I can take instant goofy pictures of my friends when the mood hits. Then again, sayang naman my money if I replace my Nokia 6100. Inspite of it wearing the battlescars of being hit on all sides by the contents of my hand bag (ballpen, lipstick, hairbrush, wallet, carkeys, compact face powder) or getting dropped on some hard surface, my 6100 still works wonderfully well and gets the messages across (get it? hehe!). But I stand by my decision that Ton's major purchase for the year will be a digital camera.
Hmmm... since we are in the topic of "purchases", I might as well tell you about my spending habits:
1. I don't buy what I can't afford to pay in cash.
2. I don't buy things I don't need.
3. I don't keep up with The Jones's.
When I was some years younger, I had 8, as in 8 credit cards!!! Banks would send me their credit cards and though I never maxed the credit limit, I actively used them even for small purchases like gas, groceries and pocketbooks. Big ticket items in my billing statements were for facial care and massage packages....as in GRABE!! Well, as the usual credit card sob story would go, I found myself paying the minimum amount required to keep my accounts current, a big portion of which, of course, goes to pay the interest. I did the smart thing by taking out a loan from the Bank to pay off the credit cards and vowed never again to purchase on credit. I'd get all sorts of credit cards in the mail but I'd tear them up soon as I receive them.
A normal woman like me gets tempted to buy all sorts of stuff. At this age of consumerism, who doesn't? And women are natural impulsive buyers. "Ay, how cute this top, so nice the color!" or "this bag is so sobrang aliw!" or "let's just go around the mall and see what they've got." When I go to the mall nowadays, its either to watch a movie or if there's something that I need to buy, I go directly to the store where I can find it, buy it, then leave. I don't linger longer than what's necessary.
